Awards and Honors on Resume — How to List Them

Awards add credibility when they're relevant and recent. List them strategically, not exhaustively.

Create an 'Awards & Honors' section or fold recognition into your experience bullets.

Example: 'Employee of the Year, 2025 — recognized for leading the platform migration on schedule.'

Include competitive awards with context: 'Winner, [Hackathon] (200+ participants) — built an AI study planner in 36 hours.'

Academic honors: Dean's List, summa cum laude, or top-10% rankings belong in the education section.

Quantify recognition where possible: 'Top 2% of 500+ sales team for 3 consecutive quarters.'

Keep older awards (10+ years) only if they're prestigious and role-relevant.

Don't invent or exaggerate awards — they're easy to verify and fabrications destroy trust.
