Resume Education Section — How to Format It Correctly

The education section placement depends on your experience level. Students and recent grads put it near the top; experienced professionals near the bottom.

Include: Degree name, major, institution, graduation date (or expected), and location. Add GPA (3.5+ only), honors, and relevant coursework for recent grads.

Example: 'B.S. Computer Science, University of Texas at Austin, May 2024, GPA 3.8/4.0, Dean's List (4 semesters)'.

For experienced professionals, trim education to one or two lines: 'MBA, Harvard Business School, 2015'.

If you have no degree or are still studying, list your expected graduation date and relevant coursework or bootcamps.

Certifications and bootcamps count. List them under Education or a separate Certifications section: 'AWS Solutions Architect Associate, 2025'.

If your education is from a less-known institution, that's fine — lead with your experience and achievements instead.

Don't include high school once you're in college or beyond, unless the role specifically asks.
