Resume Summary Examples — How to Write a Powerful Professional Summary

Your professional summary is the first thing recruiters read. It should be a 2-3 sentence overview that makes them want to read more.

What to Include:

- Your title and years of experience

- Your key skills and expertise

- Your biggest achievement or impact

- What you're looking for (optional)

Software Engineer Example: 'Full-stack engineer with 6 years of experience building scalable web applications. Expertise in React, Node.js, and AWS with a track record of reducing infrastructure costs by 40% and serving 1M+ users.'

Data Analyst Example: 'Data analyst with 4 years of experience turning complex data into actionable insights. Proficient in SQL, Python, and Tableau with a history of identifying $5M+ in revenue opportunities through data-driven analysis.'

Product Manager Example: 'Product manager with 7 years of experience leading B2B SaaS products from ideation to launch. Grew ARR from $2M to $10M through data-driven product strategy and cross-functional leadership.'

DevOps Engineer Example: 'DevOps engineer with 5 years of experience building and managing cloud infrastructure. Reduced deployment time by 90% through CI/CD automation and managed 200+ Kubernetes clusters with 99.99% uptime.'

What NOT to do:

- Don't use clichés like 'results-oriented' or 'team player'

- Don't make it too long — 3-4 sentences max

- Don't include your objective (what you want) — focus on what you offer

- Don't use first person ('I built...') — use implied first person ('Built...')
