Technical Interview Guide — How to Pass Coding and System Design Interviews

Technical interviews are challenging but predictable. Here's how to prepare and pass them.

Coding Interviews: Practice 100-200 LeetCode problems focusing on patterns: arrays, strings, hash maps, two pointers, sliding window, trees, graphs, dynamic programming.

System Design: Learn to design scalable systems. Key topics: load balancing, caching, database sharding, microservices, message queues, CDN, and CAP theorem.

Communication: Talk through your thought process. Interviewers want to see how you think, not just the final answer.

Time Management: Don't spend 20 minutes on one approach. If stuck, communicate and pivot. Ask clarifying questions.

Edge Cases: Always consider edge cases — empty input, null values, very large inputs, negative numbers, duplicates.

Testing: Write test cases for your code. Show the interviewer you think about quality, not just correctness.
